Hello everyone.
I was wondering if anyone noticed that the Trace tool under the Measurements box will not draw a straight line if you are trying to trace something on an angel. Even if you do an auto trace, it still draws a line that goes step by step up or down the pixels. However, the Trace tool does not do this if the line if horizontal or verticle. Therefore, if you measure 2 objects, and one is bent a little at an angel and the other is straight- if these two objects are EXACTLY the same length, the diagonal one will return a larger value. This does not happen with the Line tool. The Line tool measures from the center of a pixel to the center of the next pixel. The only problem with this tool is you can not measure something that curves.
I was wondering if anyone knows a way to fix this, or if anyone knows the formula Image Pro uses to calculate the Trace measurements? I tried the smoothing and the threshold settings in the Trace box, and they had no effect on the step-by-step line that the Trace tool drew.
