A first look at IQL, the IQstudio Object Model

Starting from the application, the object model exposes 3 groups of methods and properties:

Application Methods and Properties

These methods and properties expose the main application services. They include properties like:

• Simple properties like Name, Path or Visible.
• Output, which controls the output window.
• StatusBar, to change the appearance of the status bar.
• Recorder, to control recording services.
• EventLog for auditing.

Main Collections

These sub-objects exposed as properties of the Application object give access to collections of other objects, which can be enumerated and extended using standard methods and properties like Count, Item…

The main collections exposed by the application are:

• Images: gives access to images and expose image operators.
• Windows: gives the user control over the image workspaces and the display of images.
• Dialogs: exposes an API for the various tools available.
• Projects: are groups of user created macros.
• Identities: controls the available profiles used to login into the application.
• CommandBars: is an automation API for toolbars, menus and shortcuts.

Advanced Features

These objects exposed as properties of the Application allow you to control the more advanced application features. This includes such objects as:

• DataManager: to store and retrieve data.
• DataViewer: to control the display of data.
• Databases: to access and program databases.
• Reporter: to control the creation of reports.
