This image shows the gut of an Anopheles gambiae mosquito infected with Plasmodium galinaceum, an avian malaria parasite. Cell nuclei are stained blue (Hoechst 33258), the parasite body is stained red (monoclonal antibody PGS28 + rhodamine red-x), and actin is stained green.
